Coming back to Sweden

Posted on 26 January, 201718 January, 2018 by Solo Sister

I have returned to an amazing welcome in Sweden. First there was the surprise party, then it was all the media attention and after that I recieved a nomination to the Swedish Adventurer of the year 2016. ”The first Swede who realizes a South Pole expedition on her own and as a return journey, in

Posted on 22 January, 201718 January, 2018 by Solo Sister

Last night I got back to Sweden to my family and they had organized this fantastic surprise party. A welcome party with my friends, boyfriend, family and neighbors at Skrivargården in Östergötland. I left the chilean city Punta Arenas a couple of days ago and now I am trying to slowly adapt into the real

Feeling like a queen

Posted on 17 January, 201718 January, 2018 by Solo Sister

This is a photo from a few days ago when I got picked up at the finnish line by Hercules Inlet. Since then I feel like I’ve been treated like royalty. The logistic company ALE have been wonderful and the last days in Antarctica at Union Glacier was so good. I didn’t want to leave,

I DID IT!!!!!

Posted on 11 January, 201718 January, 2018 by Solo Sister

Almost 39 days skiing to the South Pole and 12 days kiting back, with a total of 2 270 kilometers. I don’t think I fully understand that I’m finished! Done! Made it! And it all went so well. Unbelievable. No more kilometers to cover. I’m feeling so happy. And a little bit sad that it’s

Only one more day

Posted on 10 January, 201718 January, 2018 by Solo Sister

I kited 200 kilometers yesterday and only have 40 to go. I have almost reached the coast and have mountains and glaciers all around me. It is more beautiful then I can remember. I am standing outside of my tent in the last day of solitude, taking it all in, wishing that this adventure could

Kiting closer and closer

Posted on 9 January, 201718 January, 2018 by Solo Sister

Here I am, trying to keep my kite in the air while taking a selfie.  Yesterday, the wind was really good in the morning and then it faded away. I had to have many breaks on the pulka, but it is not so bad in the sun and now when I am lower in altitude

The Svalbard support

Posted on 7 January, 201718 January, 2018 by Solo Sister

It is so amazing to get the chance to ski to the pole and kite the way back. Looking back at all the preparations and sponsorship that made this expedition come true, I am proud to say that Spitsbergen Travel is part of it all. They specialize in adventures on Svalbard, which is an amazing

Food is fuel

Posted on 6 January, 201718 January, 2018 by Solo Sister

Before I left on this expedition I thought I would get tired of the freeze dried food. But no. For every lunch and dinner I look forward to BlåBands outdoor meals. Sometimes I add dried fish from Havgull, spices, cheese and always butter. For breakfast I’m eating homemade müsli with ingredients from Eidehandel. And in

A perfect windy day

Posted on 4 January, 201718 January, 2018 by Solo Sister

Yesterday was a bumpy ride and the pulka flipped over up-side-down. But today I have kited a whole degree, 119 kilometer. “The last part today was amazing. The sastrugi has calmed down, so the surface was really good, even some practice with the soft snow. The wind was perfect. I could just have the kite
